Role Description:

If you are a finance professional with experience in planning, implementing processes and book-keeping then we want you to reach out. As a Finance Manager, you will work on managing all finance functions, bringing previously outsourced elements in-house and managing the end-to-end finance process. As we are a start-up, there will be significant opportunity to shape the role and the wider company as activities progress. Start-up work can be extremely challenging, uncertain and hard to predict, but also extremely rewarding as you look to build something new alongside other highly skilled and motivated people at a rapid pace.
This role is part-time (~15 hours), with exact times to be agreed with the candidate. Ideal at this stage would be 2 hours daily with 1 full day in office, once a week.
Your Responsibilities:
• Daily account reconciliation, maintain asset register and document filing.
• Developing processes to ease workflow and provide high quality record keeping.
• Purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and inventory tracking.
• Financial reporting, budgeting and cashflow forecasting to the leadership team.
• Prepare and submit documentation for research grants and VAT-returns.
• Evolve the role and team as the company continues its growth.
Background and qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or equivalent in a relevant field along with professional qualifications such as CFA, CA, CIMA or ACCA (non-exhaustive).
• 2-5+ years of experience in financial management, ideally in the technology sector. • Strong familiarity with Xero and Microsoft Office.
• Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills who is adaptable to changing workflows. • Natural presenter, be it written or verbal with good attention to detail. • Strong desire to work in a dynamic startup environment.

Extended responsibilities list:
• AR function – raise invoices, credit control, payment allocation.
• AP function – reconcile invoices to purchase orders, system entry, payment management and allocation, expenses management, Xero nominal analysis control.
• Balance sheet reconciliations including fixed asset control.
• Bank and petty cash reconciliations.
• Monthly revenue and cost of sales recognition and accruals/deferred analysis and reconciliation.
• Month end procedures including journal preparation/entry and accounts production and analysis as required
• Staff costs journal production and balance sheet reconciliation including HMRC liabilities payments.
• Update forecasts and budgets monthly and assist with quarterly forecasting reviews • VAT returns and liabilities reconciliations.
• Prepare information needed for external accountants to produce statutory accounts. • Ad hoc finance and admin functions as required.
