Role Description:
We believe quantum technology can improve the world by allowing us to measure, communicate and compute in new and radically improved ways. In the quantum technology sector, cold atoms are the universal platform through which we harness its power and disruptive capabilities. We want you to join us in pioneering and building out this new area of innovation so that it can become part of our everyday lives.
If you are an engineer with experience in mechanical design of vibrationally and thermally sensitive systems then we want you to reach out. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work on designing from new, full-cycle components, mounts and products for internal and external use. As we are a start-up, there will be significant opportunity to shape the role and the wider company as activities progress. Start-up work can be extremely challenging, uncertain and hard to predict, but also extremely rewarding as you look to build something new alongside other highly skilled and motivated people at a rapid pace.
Your Responsibilities:
• Create functional and machinable CADs for quantum technology systems designed to meet end-user, regulatory and physical requirements.
• Model and simulate at a component level the effects of vibrational and thermal effects. • Support R&D with custom and often one-off designs to enable specific activity. • Design for, operate and maintain 3D resin printer (Formlabs).
• Oversee the manufacturing and assembly of prototypes and final products, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between electronic, optical and quantum systems.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications and documentation of designs.
Background and qualifications:
• Masters in mechanical engineering, systems engineering or relevant field. • +3 years’ experience in inter-disciplinary mechanical designs and prototyping. • Advanced knowledge of CAD and simulation software (SolidWorks, COMSOL, etc.) • Proven experience of handling a library of components from prototypes to industrialised designs for production
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to specifications.
• Strong desire to work in a startup environment with a hands on approach and can do attitude.
Benefits:
• Companywide milestone bonus scheme.
• Employee Share Options.
• 26 Days of holiday.
• Flexibility around core hours.
• Company outings, team building and training opportunities.
• Half day knowledge building every 2 weeks.
